Wednesday, 30th November 2011: The Political Leader and Executive of the New National Party wishes to express its condolences to the family of our beloved Brother Oliver Archibald. Brother Archibald was a true patriot who put the welfare of his country, his family and his party before all else. As the Parliamentary Representative for the Constituency of St. Andrew North East for two consecutive terms (1995 / 1999) Brother Archibald was instrumental in the development of the entire parish of St. Andrew as well as Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique on a whole.

Political Leader of the New National Party and former Prime Minister Dr. the Rt. Honorable Keith C. Mitchell spoke of the selfless nature of Brother Archibald and of his ability to connect with all persons regardless of their background and making them feel welcome and offering them hope for the future. He stated that the example shown by “Brother Archie” as he was fondly called, of being a selfless individual who came into politics not because of what politics could do for him but what he could do through politics for the Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique and our people should be emulated.

Honorable Roland Bhola who in 2003 was named by Brother Archibald as his successor and who has been successful at the polls in election 2003 and 2008 has called Brother Archibald an icon of the St. Andrew community. His loss will be irreplaceable to not only his beloved family, with whom Bhola stated his prayers are with at this time, but Grenada on a whole.
