PLANS TO APPOINT TOURISM AMBASSADORS TO MARKET GRENADA

St. George’s, November 30, 2011 – Government, through the Ministry of Tourism and the Grenada Board of Tourism (GBT), is considering initiatives to attract “bona fide’’ investors to the country and to generate greater employment opportunities.

The initiatives were revealed Tuesday during the unveiling of a new strategic plan for taking Grenada’s tourism industry to a higher level.

GRENADIANS AT CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE IN DURBAN

St. George’s, November 29, 2011: Grenada is being represented at a United Nations Climate Change Conference in South Africa.

A team of local technical officials are in Durban attending the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). They are also participating in the seventh Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP 7).

Shop-keeper wins with Clarke’s Court Rum!

November 23rd, 2011: Grand Anse shop-keeper, William Mitchell, was at home when a friend called to say that he had been named on radio as the October winner in the Clarke’s Court pre-Christmas Promotion.
He did not get too excited but shortly afterwards he received a call from the General Manager of Grenada Distillers Limited, Ruel Edwards, who confirmed that he had indeed won the $500.00 promotion.

Mitchell had purchased a quantity of Clarke’s Court Pure White and Special Dark Rums at The Food Fair in Grand Anse for a Happy Hour that he was organising. Although he filled the vouchers, he had no real thoughts of winning.

SOMETHING NEW FOR THE SOUTH GRENADA REGATTA 2012

The South Grenada Regatta, which takes place 23rd to 26th February 2012, is known as an event with lots of character and its own unique style where Catamarans meet Racing and Classic yachts; and veterans, first timers, locals and visitors all mingle in an environment of keen competition and fun.

“We’re delighted that the SGR is now firmly on the sailing event calendar and looking forward to our 4th Regatta. After 3 years with the same racing days/courses it is time for a change to keep the Regatta attractive especially for our loyal racers. We have added an additional racing day on Friday but offering Match Racing ”, said Jana Caniga, SGR Committee Member.
